The Paradise has successfully generated massive hype ahead of its release. Advance bookings in Nizam and North America indicate that the film is heading for a huge opening and could set an all-time record in Nani’s career.

The governments of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have also permitted ticket price hikes, while premiere shows have been confirmed. These factors give the film a significant advantage at the box office, particularly on its opening day.

But the bigger question is: How much does The Paradise need to collect to emerge as a blockbuster?

Industry sources say the film’s budget is around Rs 180 crore. However, producer Sudhakar Cherukuri has stated that the actual investment is close to Rs 220 crore, making it the first film in Nani’s career to cross the Rs 200 crore budget mark.

The makers have already recovered around Rs 90 crore through non-theatrical revenues, including OTT rights reportedly worth around Rs 60 crore, along with music, satellite and other rights.

That leaves roughly Rs 130 crore of the investment to be recovered.

Based on the current theatrical economics, the film needs to generate around Rs 100 crore in theatrical revenue for the producers and distributors to reach the break-even point. In gross terms, this would put the worldwide break-even target at roughly Rs 200 crore.

For the film to be termed a blockbuster, the trade target would be around Rs 250 crore worldwide.

Given the massive hype, strong advance bookings and ticket price hikes in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, The Paradise has the potential to post a huge opening.

If the film receives unanimous positive word of mouth, reaching the Rs 250 crore mark could be within reach.

However, if it receives mixed or negative word of mouth, the high budget and recovery target could make the journey to break-even considerably tougher.

The opening may be spectacular, but the real test for The Paradise will be how strongly it holds after the first weekend.
