Noida: Ana Godinez’s composed and impressive performance in the decisive 62kg women’s bout helped Punjab Royals register a crucial 5-4 win over Maharashtra Kesari in Match 12 of the Pro Wrestling League 2026. This match was played at Noida Indoor Stadium. Punjab had given a strong performance in the first half and took a lead of 4-1, but Maharashtra made a strong comeback in bouts 6 and 7 and made the match exciting. In such a pressurized environment, Ana Godinez performed brilliantly to ensure a decisive victory and two full match points for Punjab.


With this result, Maharashtra Kesari ended their league campaign with three wins, six points and 23 bout wins from four matches, while Punjab Royals moved to third place in the table with six points and 18 bout wins from four matches. Priya Malik was declared Player of the Match and Atish Thodkar was declared Fighter of the Match. Punjab Royals made a great start through Meenakshi in the 53kg women’s category. In the 74 kg men’s competition, Asian wrestling champion Chandramohan completely dominated Yash. After a passivity draw in the first period, Chandramohan won 18-0 with technical superiority by applying continuous takedowns and turns. Maharashtra Kesari made a comeback in the heavyweight match through captain Robert Baran. Baran displayed experience and mat control to defeat Punjab captain Dinesh Dhankhar 10-1 and keep the team in the match. However, Punjab again took the lead in the 76 kg women’s match, where former Under-20 and Under-23 World Champion Priya Malik performed brilliantly, getting a fall in the first period and giving Punjab a 3-1 lead.


The 86 kg men’s match was very exciting, where a tough competition was seen between Amit and Sandeep Mann. Through a decisive takedown and push-out in the last moments, Sandeep Mann won 8-7, increasing Punjab’s lead to 4-1. In the 57kg men’s category, Atish Thodkar led Maharashtra’s comeback. He reduced the gap by defeating Chirag Chhikara 13-10. After this, in the 57 kg women’s match, Manisha Bhanwala kept Maharashtra’s hopes alive by defeating Rajneeta Jangra 2-1. In the decisive 62 kg women’s match, Ana Godinez maintained control throughout the match. She dominated in both periods through takedowns, exposures and push-outs and defeated Dudova Bilyana Zhivkova to seal the victory for Punjab Royals. In the 65kg men’s bout, Maharashtra ended the night with a win for Tejvyan Vazgen, who defeated Anuj Kumar 12-0. However, this victory was not enough for Maharashtra to win the overall match.
